Flexible Outputs for Every Scenario

Being a transport-only device, the Optical and Coaxial S/PDIF outputs allow you to connect the Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T directly to your favourite high-end DAC. The AES/EBU digital output over XLR goes one step beyond the quality of Optical or Coaxial signals. Giving you a balanced out to your favourite DAC.

The CD Box RS2 T also offers an I²S + Masterclock output over HDMI, making it the perfect companion piece for the Pro-Ject Pre Box RS2. This array of options offers the perfect interconnect for every scenario and is the ideal solution to bypass the limitations that inherently come with other forms of digital audio connections. It is important to note however, that the I²S connection on the CD Box RS2 T is only compatible with other RS2 components. It cannot be used to connect the transport to third party DACs.

No Compromise Design

Today, Redbook CD players are rare. Until recently, genuine high-end CD mechanisms didn’t even exist anymore. That is until the undisputed king of the CD transport, famed Phillips designer Mr. Michael Jirousek, was employed by Pro-Ject to create the most accurate CD drive in the world today. The StreamUnlimited CD mechanism CD–Pro 8 and servo system CD-84 drive. The chassis and suspension of the CD Box RS2 T are completely new designs from Jirousek, offering unprecedented CD performance in today’s market. Proudly, Pro-Ject Audio are the first to use it.

Premium Build for Premium Playback

The mechanics in many CD drives struggle to correctly read CDs and rely on audio interpolation to make it work, which often has a negative impact on the sound quality. The Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T is a CD Transport only. This is important because most collectors and Hi-Fi enthusiasts already have a very good DAC in their system. The exclusion of a DAC in our design means we can keep the price reasonable, but also gives the listener flexibility to use their favourite DAC.

Suspended Motor

The CD Pro-8 and servo system of the Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T is directly integrated in it's aluminium body. The entire motor system is suspended on a proprietary anti-vibration housing secured within a very rigid carbon fibre chassis. This technology allows very minimal outside vibrations to reach the inside of the device and it's ultra sensitive laser.

Top-Loaded Clamp Design

The top-loading CD drive of the Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T incorporates a central mass point and magnetic clamp. The clamp itself is made of a new type of aluminium alloy. It is perfectly balanced and assures firm contact between the disc and the drive, achieving smooth rotation and disc reading.
